Daring Daylight Robbery Shocks Family in Chhachhrauli’s Shiv Colony

A major burglary occurred in Shiv Colony, Chhachhrauli, leaving a Sikh family devastated after thieves broke into their home while the family was away at the Gurdwara Sahib for prayers. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to reports, the entire family had gone to Kapal Mochan Gurdwara Sahib for a religious gathering. Taking advantage of the empty house, a group of cunning thieves entered the residence by removing the grill and breaking open the main door. Evidence at the scene included the suspects’ slippers and bidi (local cigarette) left behind, indicating a hasty escape.

The break-in was discovered when the family returned home around 4:15 PM, only to find the locks broken and their belongings scattered. The robbers had ransacked every room, breaking open locks and thoroughly searching wardrobes and storage trunks. The family estimates the loss at around 500,000 rupees, including three gold rings, other jewelry, and valuables.

Speaking to reporters, the head of the family, Sardar Balwinder Singh, expressed his grief: “They took everything we had saved over a lifetime. We work hard to build our savings and then, in just a few hours, it’s all gone.” The family also mentioned that the thieves had turned on the air conditioner while inside and even switched it off with the remote before leaving.

Neighbors reported no suspicious activity during the day, as laborers and construction workers were present nearby, unaware of the crime taking place. The entire burglary reportedly took three to four hours to execute, with the robbers entering through the main gate and escaping from the back using a rope and a wooden ladder.

Police arrived promptly at the scene and began their investigation, collecting evidence and checking CCTV footage from nearby areas. The Chhachhrauli police station has called in the Scene of Crime team for further examination. SHO Jagdish Chandra, who was present at the site, confirmed: “The thieves entered by scaling the wall and exited through the back after looting the house. We are reviewing footage and the investigation is ongoing.”

The incident has deeply saddened the family and the community, highlighting concerns over rising thefts and the need for better security. As police continue their investigation, residents hope the culprits will be apprehended soon.
