As the monsoon picks up pace across the country, a wave of relief has swept over people troubled by the sweltering heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major warning for Gujarat and southern Rajasthan. From now until August 29, these areas are expected to see heavy to very heavy rainfall. On August 24, especially, certain parts of eastern Rajasthan and northern Gujarat could experience extremely heavy downpours. Residents in these regions are advised to stay alert.

In the nation’s capital, Delhi NCR, the weather has been kind. Light rain has been falling since morning, and intermittent showers are expected to continue throughout the week until August 27, ensuring much-needed respite from the heat.

Uttar Pradesh has also finally received its long-awaited rains. According to the IMD, thunderstorms and showers will sweep across almost the entire state on August 24 and 25, with some areas under a heavy rainfall alert. This pattern is likely to persist until August 29.

Meanwhile, the monsoon has become active again in Bihar. The Meteorological Science Center has predicted rain for the next five days. However, an orange alert has been issued for Kaimur, Aurangabad, Gaya, and Nawada districts, where very heavy rainfall is expected today. Residents in these districts should exercise extra caution.

Finally, in Uttarakhand—the land of the gods—heavy rains continue. The IMD forecasts rain for the next seven days and warns of possible flooding in Almora, Bageshwar, Pauri, and Rudraprayag districts.
