Tragedy in Maharashtra: Father Beats Daughter to Death Over Exam Scores

A heartbreaking incident has shaken the village of Neelkaranji in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, where a 17-year-old girl, Sadhana Bhosale, lost her life at the hands of her own father. Sadhana, a class 12 student who aspired to become a doctor, was reportedly beaten mercilessly by her father after she scored lower marks in a mock NEET exam.

Sadhana was a bright student, having scored an impressive 92% in her 10th board exams. She was studying at a local school and preparing for medical entrance exams. However, her father, Dhondiram Bhosale, who is himself a headmaster at a school, became furious when Sadhana did not perform well in the NEET mock test.

According to sources, Dhondiram beat his daughter with sticks throughout the night. Despite her severe injuries, he did not take her to the hospital. Instead, he left the house the next morning to participate in International Yoga Day celebrations. When he returned, he found Sadhana unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late—she had died before treatment could begin.

The incident has sparked outrage across the village. Following a complaint filed by Sadhana’s mother, the police have registered a case and arrested Dhondiram Bhosale. He is currently being questioned by authorities.

This tragic case has raised many questions about parental pressure and the fragile nature of relationships within families. Sadhana, who dreamt of saving lives as a doctor, lost her own life over exam marks—at the hands of the person who should have protected her the most.

The community is in shock, and the case has become a somber reminder of the devastating consequences of extreme expectations and violence within families.
