In a bizarre incident that highlights both audacity and deception, a man posing as a senior railway official managed to board the AC coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express without a ticket, enjoying free tea, biscuits, and the comfort of air conditioning—until his ruse was exposed by vigilant railway staff and police.
The Incident
The man, later identified as Alok Kumar Jha, boarded the AC coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express, claiming to be a high-ranking railway officer, specifically the ADRM (Additional Divisional Railway Manager) of Samastipur. Taking full advantage of his assumed authority, he demanded and received special service from the train’s TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner), including tea and snacks, all while traveling without a ticket.
Suspicion and Investigation
Despite his confident demeanor, suspicions arose among the railway staff due to the unusually crowded coach and his persistent demands. When questioned by the RPF (Railway Protection Force) officers on board, Alok Kumar Jha presented a fake identification card. The officers, already skeptical, decided to verify his credentials.
Exposure and Arrest
As the questioning intensified, inconsistencies in his story became apparent. When asked to produce his ID and make calls to confirm his identity, he faltered. The RPF officers quickly discovered the forged ID and arrested him on the spot. Instead of enjoying the luxury of the AC coach, he was escorted to the police lock-up, where he spent the rest of his journey.
Police Statement and Video Evidence
The entire episode was captured on video, showing the suspect being questioned by RPF and CTTI (Chief Ticket Travelling Inspector) officers. The video also records the moment he is confronted about his identity and fails to provide convincing answers. The officers can be seen handling the situation professionally, ultimately leading to his arrest.
Aftermath
Alok Kumar Jha’s attempt to travel for free by impersonating a railway officer ended in embarrassment and legal trouble. The RPF has urged passengers and railway staff to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior, ensuring the safety and integrity of the railway system.
This incident serves as a reminder that while some may try to exploit the system for personal gain, alert staff and law enforcement are always on guard. The swift action taken by the railway authorities ensured that the imposter’s journey ended not in luxury, but in custody.
