Deepening Rift in Bihar’s Biggest Political Family: All Eyes on Tej Pratap Yadav Amid Assembly Session

Patna, Political Desk — Today marked a significant day in Bihar politics as cracks within the state’s most prominent political family spilled further into the public eye. Ahead of the Bihar Assembly’s Monsoon Session, both political leaders and journalists were keenly awaiting the arrival of Tej Pratap Yadav, MLA from Hasanpur and elder son of former Chief Minister Lalu Yadav.

Everyone wondered: Would Tej Pratap show up? If so, when, and where would he choose to sit — next to his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, or elsewhere in the assembly?

As speculation mounted, Tej Pratap refrained from attending the main proceedings inside the house. This was set to be the brothers’ first public appearance together since Tej Pratap’s expulsion from the party, but it did not materialize. Instead, Tej Pratap was seen only outside the assembly where he briefly spoke to the media, keeping everyone guessing about his next political move.

When asked about the future government of Bihar, Tej Pratap replied, “Let’s see what happens.” He also left open the question of his own electoral seat, commenting, “I have worked a lot in Mahua. There is demand from Bakhtiarpur and Modinagar as well.”

The current scenario has drawn pointed attention to the growing distance between Tej Pratap and Tejashwi — a rift now visible in legislative routines. Technically, Tej Pratap could still sit beside Tejashwi, since his expulsion from the party has not been formally communicated to the Speaker; this keeps seating arrangements unchanged for now. However, apparent unease lingers.

Observers are now waiting to see whether Tej Pratap will enter the assembly chambers during the remaining days of the session, and—if so—where he will position himself. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Tej Pratap has faced isolation not just from his brother and father, but recently from his sister as well.

In a significant move, Tej Pratap has launched a new Facebook page — notably without using the RJD name or party symbols, leading many to speculate about his future affiliations and ambitions.

As the monsoon session continues, political watchers across Bihar are keeping a close eye on Tej Pratap: Will he participate in the assembly proceedings? If so, where will he sit, and with whom will he align? His decisions in the coming days may carry lasting implications for both his career and the trajectory of Bihar’s storied political dynasty.
