ICU EXECUTION: Gunmen Storm Indian Hospital, Kill Murder Accused in Broad Daylight — CCTV Sparks Nationwide Outrage”

Patna, Bihar –
In a brazen and bone-chilling act that has shaken India’s conscience, five gunmen calmly walked into Paras Hospital in Patna on July 17, made their way straight to the ICU, and executed 34-year-old murder accused Chandan Mishra in front of stunned hospital staff — before casually walking out and vanishing without a trace.

Gunmen casually walk into Indian hospital, EXECUTE convict in ICU, then escape with ease

The shocking assassination, captured in grainy but clear CCTV footage, plays out like a scripted crime thriller. Except this was horrifyingly real. The footage shows the armed men entering the hospital without resistance, heading directly to the Intensive Care Unit where Mishra, a notorious parolee, lay recovering under police guard. Within seconds, gunshots rang out. Mishra was left dead on his hospital bed. The guards — completely overpowered and stunned — could do nothing but watch.

“This is not just a murder. This is a message,” a senior police official said under condition of anonymity. “They knew exactly where he was, how to get in, and how to leave. It was a perfectly coordinated hit. The level of planning suggests deep criminal networks and possible inside help.”

Mishra, no stranger to crime, had been charged in multiple murder cases but was released on parole due to medical reasons. His hospitalization at a private facility — not a government jail ward — has raised serious questions about the influence he still wielded from behind bars. Locals allege he continued to operate criminal activities through proxies even while incarcerated.

Police believe the motive was revenge — long-standing, calculated, and executed with chilling precision. “This is not a gang war shootout on the street. This happened in an ICU. That sends a very dark message to the public: no one is safe,” said local activist Kiran Sinha. “This isn’t law and order breaking down — it’s already broken.”

What’s more disturbing is how easily the killers escaped. Despite hospital security, police guards, and CCTV surveillance, the assailants walked out the front door and disappeared into Patna’s crowded streets. No arrests have been made yet, though a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement teams is underway.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government is facing massive criticism. Opposition parties are accusing the administration of complete failure in maintaining law and order. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav stated, “If murderers can enter a hospital and kill someone under police watch, then what hope do ordinary citizens have?”

In response, the Bihar police have launched an internal investigation, and hospital authorities have been summoned for questioning. Questions swirl around whether Mishra’s location was leaked, and if the attackers had inside help either from hospital staff or corrupt law enforcement personnel.

Meanwhile, the hospital remains under tight security, with many patients reportedly discharging themselves out of fear. Families of other high-profile inmates are also demanding better protection or immediate transfers.

This is not the first time Bihar has seen such violent retribution. But rarely has it occurred with such audacity and impunity. The killing has reignited a fierce national debate about the deteriorating state of criminal justice in India’s heartland — and just how deeply crime has seeped into the fabric of its institutions.

For now, Mishra is dead. But the message his killers left behind is very much alive: even in the supposed safety of a hospital ICU, vengeance will find you.
