Saif Ali Khan and Family Celebrate Supreme Court’s Raksha Bandhan Gift: Nawabs Win Big in ₹15,000 Crore Inheritance Battle
This Raksha Bandhan, the festival of sibling love has brought more than just rakhis and sweets for Bollywood’s royal family. Saif Ali Khan, his sister Soha Ali Khan, and their mother Sharmila Tagore are celebrating a monumental victory, as India’s Supreme Court delivers a landmark verdict in their favor regarding the disputed ₹15,000 crore ancestral property.
A Royal Legacy Under Threat
The story begins with the late Nawab Hamidullah Khan, the last ruler of Bhopal, whose vast private estate became the center of a decades-long legal tussle. After his death in 1960, inheritance rights were claimed by his daughters—Abida Begum, Sajida Sultan, and Rabia Begum. Abida Begum migrated to Pakistan in 1950, making Sajida Sultan the sole inheritor of the royal assets. Sajida’s marriage to Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, and their son Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (the legendary cricketer known as Tiger Pataudi), continued the royal lineage.

After Mansoor Ali Khan’s passing, his wife Sharmila Tagore and their children—Saif, Soha, and Saba—became the rightful heirs.
Legal Battles and “Enemy Property” Twist
In 2017, the Indian government introduced the Enemy Property Act, which allowed the state to seize properties of those who migrated to Pakistan. This law threw a wrench into the Pataudi family’s claim, as Abida Begum’s migration decades ago threatened the transfer of the estate to Saif and his siblings.
In June, the Madhya Pradesh High Court halted the transfer of the ₹15,000 crore property to Saif, Soha, Saba, and Sharmila Tagore, citing the Enemy Property Act. The family’s hopes were dashed, and the legal battle seemed endless.
Supreme Court’s Raksha Bandhan Surprise
Just as Raksha Bandhan approached, the Supreme Court intervened, putting a stay on the High Court’s order. This move has brought immense relief and joy to the Pataudi family, who can now look forward to reclaiming their royal inheritance. Media reports suggest the property could soon return to the Nawabs, ending years of uncertainty.
Bollywood Royalty Rejoices
Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan, and Sharmila Tagore are reportedly overjoyed. The festival has become even more special, with celebrations in full swing. The verdict not only secures their family’s legacy but also marks a significant moment in Indian legal history.
Conclusion: A New Chapter for the Pataudis
The Supreme Court’s decision is more than just a legal win—it’s a Raksha Bandhan gift that will be remembered for generations. As the Nawabs of Pataudi celebrate, their story reminds us that family, legacy, and justice are worth fighting for.
