Allegations of Voting Irregularities at Bihar’s Katihar Polling Booth

Katihar, Bihar – Voting for the Bihar assembly elections at the Manihari constituency’s booth number 188 was marred by controversy today, as a local woman, Preeti Devi, reported that her vote had been cast without her participation.

Preeti Devi arrived at the polling station with her voter ID and Aadhaar card, only to be told by officials inside that her vote had already been registered. “I haven’t voted yet, but they are saying my vote is done,” she said, showing her fingers to the camera to prove that she had not received the indelible ink mark typically applied after voting.

Despite being handed her voter slip outside and attempting to vote, Preeti was repeatedly informed by polling staff that her vote had already been cast. “There is no mark on my finger. I haven’t voted, but they say it’s done,” she stated, visibly frustrated.

The issue was brought to the attention of polling officials, who promised to verify the situation and allow her to vote if it was confirmed that she had not already done so. Preeti had reportedly returned from the polling station twice, each time being told her vote was already recorded.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the integrity of the voting process in the region. While many voters queued enthusiastically to cast their ballots, allegations like Preeti’s cast a shadow over the day’s proceedings.

Security forces have been deployed to ensure a peaceful election, and officials have assured that complaints will be investigated. The election in Bihar is a significant event, and voters expressed both enthusiasm and concern as they participated in the democratic process.

As the day progressed, more voters and local residents voiced their opinions about the arrangements and the overall atmosphere at the polling stations. The situation at booth number 188 remains under scrutiny as officials work to resolve the complaint and maintain transparency.
