Barabanki, UP: Family Demands Justice Following Alleged R@pe and M*rder of Young Female Police Constable

Tragedy has struck a family in Barabanki, near Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, after the body of female police constable Vimlesh Pal was discovered under suspicious circumstances. Her family, devastated by the loss of their daughter and sister, has accused a fellow constable, Indresh Maurya, of rape and murder.

Relatives who arrived to collect Vimlesh’s body shared heartbreaking statements with the media, expressing their outrage and anguish. “She was everything to us. If a 22-year-old girl dies like this, what are we supposed to do?” said one of her sisters. “She left her own home to serve the public. Now, we have no one left,” added another relative, highlighting Vimlesh’s dedication to her duty.

The family alleged that, in her last conversation, Vimlesh had expressed fear for her life, specifically naming Indresh Maurya, a policeman posted in Hardoi, and his family. Vimlesh reportedly told her relatives that Indresh and his family were threatening to kill her. “She told us Indresh and his family might kill her. On Sunday, her phone became unreachable,” they recounted. Days later, the family learned of her death through the police, who provided few details.

Vimlesh’s relatives also claimed that despite the passage of several days, they were not properly informed about the circumstances of her death. “The police only informed us on the afternoon of the 27th, but today is the 30th. We weren’t told the truth earlier,” said her sister Pooja Pal.

Vimlesh, who had no brothers and was the only breadwinner for her family after receiving her job following her father’s death (he served as a follower in the Amethi police), was described as the family’s pillar. “She got the job after our father died in the line of duty. Now she’s gone,” said Pooja, visibly distressed.

The family members accused Indresh Maurya and his relatives of being involved in Vimlesh’s death. “They were everything to her,” they said, calling for immediate and strict justice. “If we don’t get justice, we will have to take matters into our own hands.”

As the investigation continues, Vimlesh Pal’s family demands that the authorities take swift and decisive action against those responsible for the alleged crime. The incident highlights the safety concerns of women, even those serving in law enforcement, and raises urgent questions about workplace harassment and justice for victims of sexual violence.
