Father of Assaulted Army Jawan Recounts Shocking Attack at Sarojpur Toll Plaza, Demands Strict Action

A recent incident at the Bony Toll Plaza in Sarojpur has gone viral, where an Indian Army soldier, Kapil, was brutally beaten by toll staff. Contrary to initial reports, Kapil was not alone—his father, Kishan Pal, was by his side, dropping him off as he was set to rejoin duty the next morning. In an exclusive interview, Kapil’s father Kishan Pal shared a first-hand account of the distressing event.

According to Kishan Pal, they were heading to Delhi for Kapil’s early morning flight to rejoin his deployment. Trouble started when a car in front of them was involved in an argument with the toll staff. As Kapil stepped in and showed his Army ID, requesting to be let through due to his urgent schedule, the toll workers responded rudely, dismissing his request. Despite showing his valid Army ID and explaining his case, his card was snatched and thrown away by the staff. Matters escalated rapidly, and two of the toll workers held Kapil by the arms and tied him to a pole as around 10-12 others joined in beating him.

Kishan Pal also suffered beatings during the chaos, along with another young relative, Pradeep. The family tried to protect Kapil, but the mob’s violence left the soldier with serious injuries to his legs and head, as seen in the widely shared video. The situation was only de-escalated when locals, including Abhishek—a member of the Bajrang Dal and RSS—arrived with others to intervene.

After the assault, Kapil was taken for a police medical examination before being treated at a military hospital in Meerut. He is currently hospitalized, and his recovery is ongoing.

The incident sparked outrage in the local community, prompting villagers from nearby areas to gather at the toll plaza in protest. They are demanding strict action, including the arrest of all accused and the cancellation of the toll company’s license. According to Kishan Pal, neither he nor Kapil has any personal demands—their main concern is justice for the community and ensuring such violence is not repeated. Four accused have already been detained, but many believe this is not enough.

Locals emphasize that this was not an isolated incident—complaints of hooliganism by toll staff have persisted since the facility opened, with authorities largely turning a blind eye.

Villagers are pressing for justice for Kapil and want a permanent end to such lawlessness at the toll plaza. They demand strict legal action against the culprits and stricter oversight of toll operations going forward.
