Sitamarhi, Bihar – Violence continues to grip Bihar as the village of Babu Narha in Bajpatti police station area was rocked by the brutal daylight murder of Aditya Thakur, a man with a criminal past and multiple police cases against him. The sound of gunfire once again echoed through Sitamarhi, underlining the worsening state of law and order in the region.

According to police sources, Aditya Thakur—originally from Dumra but staying with relatives in Bajpatti—was sitting on a mat with friends near a deserted bridge when armed assailants arrived on motorcycles and riddled him with bullets. The attackers, believed to be three in number, fled the scene immediately. Police recovered six spent cartridges, snacks, soft drink bottles, and a mat from the crime scene, pointing to a party that turned deadly.

Police officials confirmed Thakur’s criminal background, revealing that he was wanted in several cases and involved in illegal liquor trade. They suspect that the killing resulted from a gang rivalry and turf war. Thakur’s family spoke of an ongoing struggle for dominance in the area, denying his involvement in any major dispute at the time.

Local leader Pappu Yadav’s comments went viral on social media after he expressed deep concern at Bihar’s deteriorating law and order situation, lamenting that lives had become “cheaper than vegetables” amid the ongoing crime wave. “You never know who will be killed next in Bihar,” he observed, painting a grim picture of everyday insecurity for citizens.

Sitamarhi police, led by SDPO Atanu Dutta, reiterated that Thakur was involved in liquor smuggling and was on the run from the police at the time of his murder. The attack is suspected to have stemmed from personal enmity among liquor gangs, and several suspects named by the victim’s family are themselves known to have criminal records.

As investigations continue, the residents of Bajpatti and Sitamarhi are left grappling with the constant threat of violence, with neither children nor businesspeople feeling safe. The incident adds to the growing public outcry for improved governance and law enforcement in Bihar.
