Hospital Staff Caught Dancing in Viral Video, Face Immediate Action in Mahoba, UP
A video from Srinagar Community Health Center in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, has recently gone viral on social media, raising serious questions about the sense of responsibility among healthcare workers. The footage shows doctors and health staff locking the hospital doors from inside, shutting down patient services, and turning a hospital room into a makeshift dance floor. Lively music played from a sound box as the staff danced and enjoyed themselves, seemingly unconcerned about the patients outside.
The occasion was a farewell party for a staff member who had been transferred. The staff organized a celebration within the hospital premises, complete with loud music and dancing—clear violations of hospital protocols. The video, apparently shot and shared by the staff themselves, quickly spread on social media, prompting outrage and an immediate response from health authorities.
Following the incident, Mahoba’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Asharam, took swift action. Seven staff members, including two doctors and other health personnel involved in the incident, were immediately removed from the Srinagar CHC and transferred to various other health centers pending investigation. Dr. Asharam stated that a three-member inquiry committee, led by Additional CMO Dr. S.K. Verma, has been formed to investigate the matter in detail.
The CMO commented, “Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable and reflects negligence towards patient care. Disciplinary action was taken against those significantly visible in the video.”
The staff members who faced action include Dr. Ajay Singh (Superintendent), Dr. Shweta Sachan, pharmacist Satish Kumar, staff nurses Jali and Aradhana, ANMs Gudia and Manju Gautam. The health department has made it clear that such irresponsible and negligent conduct will not be tolerated, and any similar actions in the future—especially those involving dancing, loud music, or any entertainment at the expense of patient care—will face strict repercussions.
This incident has acted as a wake-up call for the department, reinforcing the need for discipline and prioritization of patient care in all government health facilities.
