In a candid interview with Zoom, Jamie recounted a disturbing experience from the early days of her career. At the time, she was managing her own work without a manager, and her contact number had started circulating among various casting agents. One day, she received a call from a man who claimed to be an international film director. The alleged filmmaker told Jamie he was casting for an international project and requested her to audition via Zoom.

“Opportunities like these matter a lot to us,” Jamie shared. “So, I agreed. But on the Zoom call, he kept his video off, claiming he was in transit. He then told me it was for a bold role, and gave me a scenario where I had to attract a 50-year-old man. Then he said, ‘If you want, you can take off your clothes.’”

Jamie was shocked by the request and immediately declined, citing discomfort and refusing to perform any scene without a script. “As soon as he mentioned removing clothes, I ended the call,” she recalled. Later, Jamie realized how close she had come to falling into a dangerous trap. “If I had done anything, he could have recorded it and blackmailed me. It hit me how many people play dirty games in the industry’s name.”

Jamie admitted that in all her years in Mumbai, she had never encountered something like this before, making the incident a terrifying lesson. “I’m a star kid, so I escaped. But imagine an outsider—any girl could end up trapped,” she said.

Jamie’s story resonates as yet another warning about the exploitation that continues in show business, even as conversations about safety and dignity in the industry grow louder.
