Kanpur’s Infamous “Bomb Thrower” Mastermind Arrested, Police Parade Him Through Neighborhood to End Fear
Kanpur police have arrested Gaurav Jain, a notorious criminal locally known as a “bomb thrower,” bringing an end to a wave of fear that had gripped parts of the city.
According to officials, Jain, a resident of Kanpur, had developed a reputation for creating chaos over the smallest disputes. Instead of resolving issues peacefully, he would hurl crude bombs in residential areas, terrifying local residents.
Paraded Through the Neighborhood
After his arrest, Kanpur Commissionerate Police decided to teach him a lesson in full public view. Officers took Jain to the Lal Bangla area—where his gang had often spread terror—and marched him through the neighborhood. The move was intended to send a strong message: the reign of fear was over.
Locals who once cowered at the sound of explosions came out to witness the scene. Many praised the police for their bold action and for working to restore peace.
Gang Links and Shootouts
Investigations revealed that Jain’s gang was behind multiple incidents, including violent clashes and a recent shootout in Lal Bangla. Eyewitnesses reported that 30 to 35 masked youths stormed into the area, firing weapons and hurling bombs.
“They came with faces covered. We didn’t even know who was firing,” said one local resident.
Police say these attackers were linked to rival factions. One of the arrested suspects admitted he had once been a student and that his father serves in the Air Force, showing how some young men from seemingly stable backgrounds have been drawn into crime.
A Wider Crackdown
Kanpur Police Commissioner stated that a special task force had been monitoring the situation daily. “We have arrested more than ten accused so far. Their criminal records are being compiled, dossiers prepared, and they will face strict legal action,” he said.
Several members of Jain’s gang have already been sent to jail, and police plan to file cases under the state’s “Goonda Act” to prevent them from returning to crime. Officials are also calling in parents of the arrested youths—many under 20 years old—for counseling, urging families to steer their children away from violence.
“We Will Not Tolerate This”
The Commissioner emphasized that this operation is part of a broader campaign. “Anyone who tries to create fear or disturb public order will face strict action. We are verifying every location involved, taking the accused back to the markets they terrorized, and showing the public that the law will prevail.”
Residents of Lal Bangla say the police’s visible, decisive action has brought relief. For now, the arrest of Gaurav Jain marks a turning point in the fight to restore peace in Kanpur’s troubled neighborhoods.
