Khesari Lal Yadav and Wife Chanda Devi Campaign in Chhapra: “We’re Contesting to Serve, Not to Earn”

Chhapra, Bihar — The political atmosphere in Chhapra Sadar is heating up as popular Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav enters the electoral fray as the RJD candidate, with his wife Chanda Devi actively supporting his campaign.

Originally, Chanda Devi was expected to receive the party ticket, but in a last-minute change, the ticket was given to Khesari Lal Yadav. Speaking to the media, Chanda Devi greeted the public with folded hands, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support:
“I am receiving so much love from the people. Please continue to support us and help my husband win. People are saying we will win from here, and I hope that what we have dreamt of will come true. We will prove our critics wrong.”

When asked about the ticket change, Chanda Devi explained, “There was a bit of urgency and I was late in preparing, so the ticket went to my husband instead. Sometimes you have to let go, and that’s fine.”

Addressing allegations that they are contesting elections for financial gain, Chanda Devi was candid:
“Everyone knows how much we earn; we are not here to make money. We are contesting to bring development, not for personal profit. God has blessed us with everything—there is no shortage.”

Chanda Devi and Khesari Lal have been actively campaigning, meeting voters and addressing concerns about their knowledge of local issues and governance. Critics have questioned whether Khesari Lal, who is new to politics, understands the complexities of the legislative assembly and development work.

Chanda Devi responded, “People say we don’t know anything, but time will tell. We are here to serve and bring real change. For the past ten years, what development has happened? We have only just received the ticket, so we won’t just talk—we will show results.”

The Chhapra Sadar seat has been a BJP stronghold for the past 20 years, with the current MLA from the NDA. Chanda Devi acknowledged the challenge of contesting against a long-standing incumbent:
“Many people put forward their views in the media, saying what we will or won’t do. But if you look around, what has been achieved in the last ten years? We are here to show what can be done, not just make promises.”

She concluded the interview by reiterating their commitment:
“We have earned enough money. We are contesting to serve the people and bring development to Chhapra. Watch our actions and judge for yourself.”

As the campaign continues, Chanda Devi urged voters to share their thoughts and support through comments and engagement.
“Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”
