Massive Ground Collapse in Ghaziabad’s Sushant Aquapolis Society, Vehicles Damaged but No Casualties

Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – In a shocking incident following heavy rain, a major section of land collapsed outside the Sushant Aquapolis residential society of Ghaziabad, creating a massive sinkhole that swallowed several parked vehicles late last night.

According to ground reports, the affected area served as a parking space for residents’ cars, bikes, and scooters. Around midnight, the land caved in without warning, causing multiple vehicles to plunge into the pit. Our correspondent, present at the scene, reported, “This red Brezza car with registration number UP 14 DF 7835 is badly damaged, with its windshield shattered and its interior filled with mud. The car—along with others parked outside the society—was suddenly engulfed as the ground gave way.”

Visuals from the site showed several two-wheelers, including bikes and scooters, being pulled out from the debris, all of them severely damaged. Residents are visibly distressed as many of their vehicles are either destroyed or buried in mud.

The incident has raised serious questions about safety and construction quality around the society, highlighting alleged negligence. Some residents blamed inadequate drainage for the collapse, an issue that officials from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) are reportedly investigating on-site this morning.

“So far, the builder has assured residents of support and promised to address the losses suffered by vehicle owners,” said a local resident. However, there remains considerable anxiety, with people waiting to see what concrete action will be taken.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the collapse, as the incident occurred late at night when most residents were indoors. Owners managed to retrieve some of their vehicles, though most remain severely damaged.

As authorities continue to inspect the site and understand the causes, the incident underscores the urgent need for better urban planning, drainage management, and accountability from builders and civic authorities—especially in high-value residential areas.
