Muzaffarpur, Bihar: Woman Brutally Murders Husband Over Suspicion of Affair

A spine-chilling crime has emerged from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, revealing the violent collapse of a marriage due to suspicion and jealousy. On July 7, in the Qazi Mohammadpur area, Saba Firdaus allegedly killed her husband, Mumtaz, in a gruesome attack that has shocked the local community.

The Crime

According to reports, Saba Firdaus, who had appeared twice for the UPSC and once for the BPSC exams, allegedly attacked her husband while he was sleeping. In what police are calling an act of extreme brutality, Saba slit Mumtaz’s throat, gouged out his eyes, slashed his thighs, and stabbed him around 17 times on the head, chest, and back.

The crime scene contained further chilling details: Saba reportedly wrote on her bedroom wall before the murder, “I accept defeat, but I’ll play my last game well.” After committing the murder, she changed her narrative several times, initially claiming to have discovered her husband’s bloodied body when the electricity went out, and later alleging that thieves had broken in, held her at knifepoint, and killed her husband in front of her.

Police Investigation

Police became suspicious of Saba’s contradictory statements and retrieved CCTV footage (DVR) from behind the house. During questioning, she eventually confessed to both planning and executing the murder, citing her suspicion that Mumtaz was involved with another woman and the fear that he might one day kill her.

Background

Mumtaz served as a Panchayat Rozgar Sevak in Bhagwanpur block, Vaishali, though his residence was in Muzaffarpur. He and Saba had been married since 2012 and had three children.

Aftermath

On the morning of July 7, police arrived to find Mumtaz’s body lying in a pool of blood inside the family home, where he lived with Saba and their children. At first glance, it seemed like a possible burglary and murder, but investigation quickly revealed otherwise.

Saba Firdaus has been formally arrested and faces charges of murder. The case has drawn widespread attention both for the shocking manner of the crime and the underlying story of distrust and domestic turmoil.
