Outrage in Community After Humiliating Attack on Katha Vachak Sant Singh

A wave of anger and disappointment has swept through the local community following a shocking incident involving Katha Vachak (religious storyteller) Sant Singh. Residents living near Sant Singh’s family have spoken out, condemning the recent attack on him and demanding swift government action.

Incident Details

Sant Singh, who has been conducting religious discourses for over 15 years, was reportedly humiliated, beaten, and subjected to degrading treatment. According to Parth Vikram Singh, a local resident, “This incident is highly condemnable. No one should be insulted and beaten in such a manner. Forcing someone to rub their nose on the ground and urinating on them is not a way to express disagreement or assert rights.”

He further emphasized that everyone has the right to worship as they choose, and Sant Singh has been performing religious duties in the area for many years without any issues.

Community Reaction

Ravindra Vikram Singh, the landlord who has rented a house to Sant Singh for 15 years, expressed shock and sadness. “Sant Singh is well-known in the entire area for his polite and sociable nature. What happened to him is a grave insult, especially in Sanatan Dharma where cutting someone’s shikha (tuft of hair) and urinating on them are considered extreme acts of humiliation,” he said.

Ravindra added that those who took Sant Singh away were familiar with him and knew he was a member of the Yadav community. “If they didn’t want him to conduct the religious event, they could have simply refused politely. There was no need for such disgraceful behavior,” he said, urging the government, especially Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to take strict and prompt action.

A Call for Justice

Rajeev Kumar, another neighbor, echoed these sentiments. “Sant Singh has been performing worship rituals for over a decade. Everyone knows him. If there was any problem, he could have been sent back, not treated in such a humiliating way,” he said.

Local residents unanimously condemned the incident and called for the harshest possible action against the perpetrators. They stressed that the right to worship is fundamental and guaranteed to all, regardless of caste or community.

The community stands united in support of Sant Singh and demands justice. The incident has sparked a wider conversation about respect, religious freedom, and the need for swift action against such acts of violence and humiliation.
