They say marriage is a union of hearts, but for the captain from Prayagraj, his arranged marriage shattered on the very first night. The match was fixed in the presence of the entire community, but instead of marital bliss, the groom was met with threats and a knife on his wedding night.

The bride, Sitara, reportedly told her husband that if he came close, she would either kill him or herself. Since that night, the groom’s sleep has been replaced by fear. He recalls, “She was holding a knife. At first, I thought maybe it was normal, but when I tried to approach her, she threatened me, saying she’d kill me or herself if I touched her. I was shocked and asked why. She said she loved someone else—Aman.”

As the captain gathered the courage to uncover the truth, a shocking revelation came to light: Sitara was in love with the captain’s own nephew. She would use her husband’s phone to call him, threatening anyone who tried to intervene. Sitara insisted on visiting Kedarnath, but after the knife incident, the captain feared for his life, recalling a notorious local murder case where a wife killed her husband.

The groom was so traumatized that he couldn’t sleep for days. Then, on the night of June 1, 2025, CCTV footage captured Sitara climbing down from the terrace pillar and running away without telling anyone. “Now, even the mention of marriage scares me,” says the groom. “She ran away at around 1 AM. We filed a complaint with the police, but I’m still terrified. With all these incidents of women murdering their husbands, I fear the same could happen to me.”

Marriage is supposed to be built on trust, but when it’s filled with deceit and fear, life comes to a standstill. The captain still trembles at the memory of that night. The big question remains: if the marriage was arranged with society’s approval, why the betrayal? And will the law ever hear the truth, or will only accusations continue to fly?
