Shefali Jariwala, the Original ‘Kaanta Laga’ Girl and Bigg Boss 13 Contestant, Passes Away at 42

The entertainment industry is in shock as Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as the “OG Kaanta Laga Girl” and a contestant on Bigg Boss 13, has passed away. Shefali died at the age of 42 due to a sudden cardiac arrest, leaving fans and colleagues heartbroken and the industry in deep mourning.

Shefali was not just a glamorous face; she was also academically brilliant. Born on December 15, 1982, in Mumbai, Shefali graduated with a degree in Information Technology from Sardar Patel Engineering College in Gujarat. However, destiny had different plans for her.

Shefali’s claim to fame came in the early 2000s with the remix music video “Kaanta Laga.” Her bold look, unique style, and electrifying screen presence made her an overnight sensation, turning her into a household name across India. She also made cameo appearances in Bollywood films like “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, and appeared in a Kannada regional film and ALT Balaji’s web series “Baby Come Naa.”

Her real comeback happened in 2019 when she entered Bigg Boss 13 as a wild card contestant. Shefali played the game with confidence and dignity, earning respect for her strong opinions and composed personality. Despite the drama-filled environment of the show, she always handled situations in her own unique way, never overreacting.

On the night between June 27 and 28, Shefali suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Her husband, Parag Tyagi, along with three others, rushed her to the hospital, but doctors could not save her. She was declared brought dead by the hospital. Parag was seen visibly devastated outside the hospital in Mumbai, his grief evident to all who saw him.
