Shocking Crime in Aurangabad: Illicit Relationship, Family Betrayal, and Murder Unravel in Bihar

In April 2025, a shocking crime story unfolded in Aurangabad district, Bihar, that left an entire region stunned. What began as a family secret ended in a cold-blooded murder, exposing the dark side of forbidden relationships and the dangers lurking within trusted households.

A Shocking Discovery

It all started when an elderly woman returned home earlier than expected from the market. She noticed that most doors in her house were open, except for one behind which strange noises could be heard. Curious and cautious, she peeked through a window—only to find her 60-year-old husband naked, along with her own niece in a compromising position. The revelation left her shocked and devastated.

A Forced Marriage and a Deadly Plan

Unable to process what she had seen, the woman confronted both her husband and niece, then immediately went to her brother to insist that his daughter, now 27, must be married off at any cost. Within a month, a groom was found, and the niece, Gunja Singh, was married in May 2025. However, the marriage set the stage for a murder that would soon shake the entire state.

The Murder of Priyanshu Kumar

On June 24, 2025, Priyanshu Kumar, also known as Chhotu, was returning home from Banaras by train. He called his mother to send someone to pick him up from the station. Two local boys, Sonu and Anup, arrived on a motorcycle to bring him home. As they left the station, another bike approached, its riders asking for directions. Suddenly, seven to eight gunshots rang out, all aimed at Priyanshu, who died instantly.

Police Investigation and Uncovering the Truth

The police arrived quickly, but initial investigations yielded few leads. Suspicion grew when Priyanshu’s call records revealed over 50 calls with his wife, Gunja, on the day of his murder. When questioned, Gunja was evasive and refused to hand over her phone. Eventually, she was taken into custody, and after persistent interrogation, the truth began to surface.

A 15-Year-Long Secret Affair

Gunja revealed a shocking secret: since the age of 12, she had been living with her aunt and uncle, where she developed a romantic and physical relationship with her uncle, Jeevan Singh, who was twice her age. For 15 years, their illicit affair continued in secrecy, with Jeevan sabotaging every marriage proposal that came Gunja’s way. When her aunt finally discovered the truth, she insisted on Gunja’s marriage, despite Gunja’s reluctance and Jeevan’s threats.

A Sinister Plot

After her forced marriage, Gunja and Jeevan plotted to kill her husband, Priyanshu, so they could be together. Jeevan hired two contract killers from Jharkhand, Jayashankar Chaubey and Mukesh Sharma, providing them with Priyanshu’s photo and arranging for Gunja to lure her husband into a vulnerable position. Their first attempt failed, but on June 24, the plan succeeded.

Justice Served—But Not Complete

Following Gunja’s confession, both she and the two contract killers were arrested. Jeevan Singh, the mastermind, remained on the run as police intensified their search. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Aurangabad SSP was praised for unraveling the complex case.

A Cautionary Tale

This tragic story is not just about crime and punishment—it is a warning to parents about the dangers of leaving daughters in the care of others, no matter how trusted they may seem. The case highlights the importance of vigilance and the potential for betrayal within families.

The Aurangabad murder case serves as a grim reminder of the dark realities that can exist behind closed doors, and the devastating consequences of secrets, betrayal, and unchecked desires.
