The deceased, Vijay Chauhan, originally from Jaunpur, had been living in Mumbai for the past 15 years and worked as a construction mason. He married Chaman, a resident of Haujgaon in Jaunpur’s Zafarabad area, eight years ago, and the couple settled in their own room in Nalasopara, Mumbai. They had a six-year-old son.

Trouble started on July 2, when Vijay reportedly caught his wife talking to their neighbor, Monu Prajapati. A heated argument ensued, during which Vijay allegedly beat his wife and scolded Monu. That same day, Vijay disappeared.

The chilling details of the crime unfolded 20 days later when Vijay’s family, growing suspicious after failing to reach him, visited his home. For days, Chaman kept assuring relatives that Vijay had left for work. When his brother Ajay visited, Chaman claimed the floor tiles were damaged and asked him to have them repaired. Ajay fixed the tiles, but on a subsequent visit, found the house locked and Chaman and her son missing.

Family members, along with neighbors, broke into the house and noticed a patch of floor with recently replaced tiles. As they began digging, a foul odor spread through the room, prompting them to alert the police. The authorities arrived, excavated the site, and recovered Vijay Chauhan’s severely decomposed body from beneath the tiles and the bed.

During the investigation, it emerged that Chaman and her lover Monu, with assistance, had murdered Vijay by tying his hands and feet, hitting him on the head, and burying him in the room. They then placed tiles over the grave and lived in the room for twenty days as if nothing had happened.

Following the murder, Chaman disappeared with both Monu and her six-year-old son. Police teams are conducting raids at various possible locations to apprehend the accused, who remain absconding.

The incident has left the victim’s family and the surrounding community in deep shock. Vijay’s parents and relatives are devastated, expressing disbelief that Chaman could commit such a horrific act. Local police continue their investigation, vowing to arrest the fugitives soon.
