Sonam and Boyfriend Raj Kushwaha Identified as Masterminds in Shocking Shillong Murder Case

In a sensational development in the Shillong murder case, police have identified Sonam and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha as the masterminds behind the brutal killing of Sonam’s husband, Radha Raghuvanshi. According to authorities, Sonam orchestrated an elaborate plan to murder her husband, disguising the trip as a honeymoon but with the sole intent of carrying out the crime.

Police investigations reveal that Sonam, along with three accomplices, traveled to Shillong under the pretense of a honeymoon just one week after her wedding. On May 21, the group arrived in Guwahati, where the three men purchased a weapon outside a hotel near the railway station. Sonam then proceeded to Shillong and later to Cherrapunji, with the three men closely following her and staying in contact throughout the journey.

Crucial CCTV footage played a key role in the investigation, showing Sonam and her husband on a rented scooter, with Sonam frequently using her mobile phone—possibly to share her location or communicate with the accomplices. The footage also helped police reconstruct the group’s movements and linked the suspects together.

The murder was executed at a pre-selected spot, where Sonam instructed the three men to attack her husband. The assailants struck Radha Raghuvanshi from behind with a sharp weapon, causing his death on the spot.

After the murder, Sonam and the accomplices fled Shillong on May 23. Sonam traveled by local trains to Indore, where she met Raj Kushwaha, with whom she had been in constant contact through calls and social media. Raj arranged for Sonam to stay in a rented room in Indore on May 25. The following day, at Raj’s suggestion, a driver took Sonam to Uttar Pradesh, where she moved between several locations before finally reaching Ghazipur.

Police sources suggest that Sonam was attempting to evade capture by frequently changing her location, fearing that authorities were closing in. Raj, however, remained in Indore throughout. Ultimately, Sonam was tracked down and arrested in Ghazipur by police after extensive investigation and coordination between multiple agencies.

The case has shocked the community, not only for its cold-blooded planning but also for the involvement of close family members and the use of a honeymoon trip as a cover for murder. Police continue to investigate the motives behind Sonam’s move to Ghazipur and whether there was an attempt to escape to Nepal or another country.

Authorities have assured that all individuals involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, as more details continue to emerge in this chilling case.
