SP Leaders Protest Against Offensive Remark on MP Iqra Hasan, BJP Remains Silent

Hello and welcome to Satya Khabar. When it comes to women’s issues, the situation in our country sadly remains much the same as decades ago. Even today, any woman trying to progress in society faces numerous people determined to hold her back.

Recently, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Iqra Hasan has become the center of a major controversy. An objectionable and highly condemnable remark was made against her by Thakur Yogendra Singh Rana, the National Vice-President of the Karni Sena. In response, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—often vocal about women’s security and empowerment—have maintained a notable silence and have not issued any statement in support of Iqra Hasan.

In contrast, SP leaders have taken to the streets to protest in solidarity with Hasan. In Kushinagar’s Ravindranagar, SP leaders and workers organized a demonstration outside the Collectorate and submitted a memorandum to ADM Vaibhav Mishra. Protesters demanded strict action, arguing that the remarks against Iqra Hasan were indecent and an insult to both women’s dignity and constitutional values.

They further stressed that Iqra Hasan is an educated and democratically elected Member of Parliament, and such comments are a direct attack on women’s political participation and empowerment. Protesters insist that harsh action be taken against the accused.

It is noteworthy that Yogendra Singh Rana has been absconding since the incident and has switched off his phone. SP leaders have warned that if strong action is not taken, they will escalate their protests in support of Iqra Hasan.
