Tej Pratap Yadav’s Public Visit Sparks Political and Personal Controversy in Bihar
Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has once again made headlines with his bold actions and statements. Today, Tej Pratap visited the home of Anushka Yadav, the woman with whom he has long been rumored to have a romantic relationship—a relationship that allegedly led to his expulsion from both his family home and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party.
Arriving at Anushka’s residence on a motorcycle early in the morning, Tej Pratap stayed until late afternoon. His visit did not go unnoticed, as local residents and media quickly gathered outside the house. Rather than avoiding attention, Tej Pratap greeted the cameras with a smile, stating that he shares a “family relationship” with Anushka’s family and that his visit was nothing unusual.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Pawan Narayan, Tej Pratap admitted that the photos of him and Anushka posted from his Twitter account were indeed shared by him, clarifying that his account had not been hacked. He stated, “Everyone loves. I loved, so what crime did I commit? I have paid a heavy price for love.”
Tej Pratap also insisted that he is now focused on the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, expressing his intention to contest from the RJD party symbol, despite being expelled. “Wait and watch,” he said confidently, “the people will bring me back to the RJD.” He emphasized that he holds his father, Lalu Yadav, and the party above all else.
The controversy is further fueled by questions about his personal life. Tej Pratap has reportedly been in a relationship with Anushka Yadav for 12 years, yet he married Chandrika Rai’s daughter, raising questions among the public about his choices and the motivations behind them. Some accuse Lalu Yadav of orchestrating his son’s marriage for political reasons, fearing electoral backlash.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap’s younger brother and current RJD leader, has chosen to focus on election strategy and avoid commenting on his brother’s controversies. Tejashwi has been vocal in opposing the BJP’s voter list verification process in Bihar, calling it a conspiracy, and has promised the Muslim community that the Waqf Act will not be implemented in Bihar if the RJD comes to power. At a recent event organized by Imarat Sharia, Tejashwi assured that the RJD would protect the rights of Muslims and throw the controversial law “into the dustbin.”
The BJP, however, has sharply criticized Tejashwi’s remarks. Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused the RJD and Samajwadi Party of disrespecting the Indian Constitution and pandering to vote banks. He claimed that their version of socialism is actually “Namazwad”—a play on the word “socialism” to suggest religious favoritism—and that they seek to replace constitutional values with religious scripts.
Trivedi further argued that the Waqf Act is a national law passed by Parliament and cannot be selectively implemented or rejected by a state government. He suggested that Tejashwi’s statements are merely electoral tactics aimed at securing Bihar’s substantial Muslim vote, which constitutes around 18% of the electorate.
As Bihar heads into a heated election season, the personal and political dramas surrounding the Yadav family continue to command public attention, raising questions about leadership, loyalty, and the intersection of personal life with public responsibility.
