Defence Ministry Dismisses Viral “Pakistani ID” Claims Related to Pahalgam Terror Attack

New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence’s Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) has categorically rejected claims circulating on social media regarding the alleged Pakistani identity cards and forensic reports said to be linked to the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack.

In an official statement released from its accredited social media accounts, the IDS clarified that no such report has been prepared or published by the Indian Armed Forces. The viral documents, which surfaced widely online, were declared to be fake, and the public has been urged to exercise caution and verify information only through official sources.

The controversy escalated when Pradeep Bhandari, spokesperson for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), shared the alleged documents on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). IDS responded by sharing screenshots of these posts, advising citizens not to trust or propagate such unverified claims.

Reiterating its position, the IDS emphasized that neither the armed forces nor any official spokesperson has issued any statement related to these so-called Pakistani documents. The department strongly warned that the spread of such misinformation could pose serious risks to national security.

Citizens are advised to rely exclusively on authentic, official communication and to disregard unsubstantiated viral content that appears on social media.
