However, Sanjeev Kumar’s heart belonged to Hema Malini, and both Sulakshana and Sanjeev remained unmarried after Malini chose to marry Dharmendra.

Sulakshana starred in about 30 films, enjoying stardom until the early 1980s, but never reaching the heights of contemporaries like Hema Malini or Rekha. Her decision to become a producer in 1983 proved disastrous, and the changing film industry, combined with the death of her elder brother Mandhir, led to further decline.

The Pandit family faced betrayal not only from outsiders but also from relatives. When Sulakshana and Vijeta struggled financially, help was scarce. Eventually, actor Jeetendra assisted them in selling their dilapidated house, allowing Sulakshana to pay off debts and purchase two modest homes for rental income. Yet, tragedy struck again when Sulakshana suffered a serious fall, fracturing her hip and leaving her bedridden.
