The tragedy rekindled memories of the horrific Ahmedabad plane crash, which claimed the lives of around 275 people—an incident that remains fresh in many minds. Videos circulating on social media show burning debris, injured people, crowds running, screams echoing, and towering flames—capturing the sheer horror of the moment as people scrambled to save lives.

Eyewitnesses reported that immediately after the crash, thick smoke engulfed the area as panic set in. The crash took place in Uttara, a busy district of Dhaka, around 1:30 pm local time, as Monday classes were finishing. Parents were waiting at the school gates for their children when a loud explosion rocked the neighborhood, and within minutes, the scene turned to one of mourning and terror.

According to the Bangladeshi Air Force, the jet involved was a Chinese-made F7 BGI training aircraft, which took off at 1:06 pm and crashed shortly after in Uttara. The plane crashed into the north campus of Milestone College, an area primarily used for playgroup classes. Luckily, these classes had just ended before the accident occurred.

Emergency services responded quickly, with wounded victims rushed to nearby hospitals. Despite rescue efforts, the death toll stands at 19 and may rise further. The disaster left the local community in shock, and haunting images of the aftermath continue to spread online.

Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor, Mohammad Yunus, assured the public that the government will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash and provide all necessary assistance to victims and their families. He described the loss to the Air Force, students, parents, educators, and staff of Milestone College as “an irreparable tragedy” and a moment of profound sorrow for the nation.

The Inter Services Public Relations of the Bangladeshi Army confirmed the details, stating the training jet crashed just moments after takeoff. Eight units from the fire service and civil defense, along with Bangladeshi soldiers, quickly arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.

The F7 BGI is China’s advanced multirole fighter trainer jet and is considered the most sophisticated version of the F7 series, designed specifically for the Bangladeshi Air Force. This incident has raised serious concerns about the reliability of these Chinese aircraft.

As investigations continue, questions about the exact cause of the crash and who is to be held responsible remain unanswered. The nation now waits for updates as officials work to identify what led to this tragic disaster.
