Tragic Family Deaths in Sagar Linked to Wife’s Affair With Husband’s Friend

In a shocking incident in Sagar’s Tehri village, the suspicious deaths of four members of a single family have brought to light a sad tale of betrayal, infidelity, and mounting social pressure.

According to police revelations, the tragedy stemmed not only from a wife’s extramarital affair but also from the betrayal by the deceased’s childhood friend. The deceased, Manohar, was married to Draupadi, who was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with Surendra, a man from the same village, and Manohar’s old friend.

The matter came to light when Manohar’s daughter, Shivani, caught her mother Draupadi and Surendra in a compromising position. Distraught, Shivani informed her father. Manohar made repeated attempts to make his wife understand and mend their relationship, but Draupadi neither admitted to her mistake nor expressed remorse. On the contrary, she allegedly threatened to file a false case of dowry harassment against Manohar and his family if pressured to end the affair.

Despite the family’s efforts to persuade her, Draupadi continued meeting Surendra. Reports claim the family faced severe mental anguish and social embarrassment as a result. One night, on July 25th-26th, the bodies of Manohar, his daughter Shivani, his mother Phoolni, and another family member were found under mysterious circumstances.

During the investigation, the police were provided with audio recordings by Manohar’s elder brother, Nandram, which purportedly proved Draupadi’s affair with Surendra. Additionally, Shivani had previously witnessed her mother and Surendra together on multiple occasions and had informed her family, including her grandmother and father.

Legal and social threats escalated pressure on the family. Draupadi reportedly insisted that if her family tried to separate her from Surendra, she would accuse them of dowry harassment and bring social disgrace upon them. Surendra also allegedly threatened to defame the family in the community if interrupted.

Unable to bear the ongoing distress and fearing social stigma, the four family members allegedly died by suicide. Following the police investigation, both Draupadi and Surendra were arrested.

This harrowing case has sparked debate on the fragility of relationships and the devastating consequences of infidelity, blackmail, and social pressure within families. The tragedy in Tehri village stands not as a solitary incident but as a reflection for society as a whole.
