In a shocking incident reported on the 17th of this month, Geeta Devi filed a missing person’s report about her brother-in-law, Raju Paswan, who had recently returned home from working outside and had subsequently gone missing. During the interrogation, the wife confessed to the crime. According to her statement, she, along with Rakesh Kumar Yadav and his cousin Munna Kumar, strangled Raju Paswan to death. In an attempt to cover up the murder, they arranged for a white four-wheeler vehicle and, around 1:30 in the night, transported the body and dumped it in the Ganga river near Bindupur.

Police investigations, based on these confessions, led them to examine whether there were any unidentified bodies found in the Vidupur area. It was revealed that, on the 14th, an unidentified body had indeed been recovered in the local police station’s jurisdiction. A post-mortem was conducted at Hajipur Hospital, and an “Unnatural Death” (UD) case was registered under number 182.

When relatives provided photographs for identification, the body was confirmed to be that of Raju Paswan. Police further reviewed CCTV footage and discovered images showing a woman and others getting out of a white vehicle, corroborating the wife’s confession.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the murder was a close relationship between Raju Paswan’s wife and Rakesh Kumar Yadav, as the two had been in regular contact during Raju’s absences for work. This connection appears to have been the driving force behind the crime.

It was also revealed that, in the past, both Raju Paswan and his wife had been jailed in a liquor-related case.

Police continue to investigate all aspects of the case.
