According to the victim, the accused, Harivansh Shukla—a 60-year-old orderly posted at the Gonda Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office—lured her with the promise of a government job. The woman, a resident of Parshupur police station area, said she had applied for a job at the Collectorate about a month ago. There, she met Shukla, who took her phone number and began contacting her regularly.

About a week ago, Shukla called the woman to Chetna Park, claiming he would help her secure the job. He then took her to his government quarters, locked the door from inside, removed his own clothes, and began making obscene advances. When she resisted, he allegedly threatened her with a knife and tried to force her to undress.

The woman managed to escape by promising to return another time. Traumatised, she mustered the courage to file an online complaint with District Magistrate Neha Sharma two days after the incident. Following the complaint and the emergence of the video, DM Neha Sharma suspended Harivansh Shukla and sealed his official file. The investigation has been handed over to SDM Alok Kumar.

The victim also revealed that Shukla has previously trapped other women under the pretense of job offers. Since the complaint, she and her family have reportedly been receiving threats from Shukla, who is due to retire in five months.

Authorities are now under pressure to take strict action and ensure the safety of the victim and her family. The case highlights the urgent need for stronger safeguards against workplace exploitation and abuse of power in government offices.
