Elderly Woman Assaulted in Her Own Home

The disturbing footage shows three women: the daughter-in-law in a green t-shirt, her mother filming the incident on a mobile phone, and the elderly mother-in-law, who becomes the victim of a brutal assault. The video reveals the daughter-in-law threatening and physically attacking her mother-in-law, dragging her by the hair, throwing her to the ground, and kicking her repeatedly. All the while, her own mother stands by, recording the attack and not intervening.

Victim’s Family Speaks Out

Satpal Singh, the owner of the house and a retired teacher from Central School, Delhi, lives in the house with his wife Sudeshna. They have three married daughters and one son, Antariksh, who works as a software engineer in Gurugram. Antariksh married Akanksha, the accused, on December 24, 2022. According to Satpal Singh, their lives have become a living hell since then.

“My wife is weak and elderly. Both the daughter-in-law and her mother attacked her together, pushing her against the wall and beating her mercilessly,” said Satpal Singh. The victim, Sudeshna, echoed these sentiments, saying, “We live in constant fear in our own home. I feel like a prisoner, not knowing what might happen next.”

Allegations of Police Inaction

The family alleges that despite repeated complaints, the police have failed to take meaningful action. They claim that the accused’s father is a sub-inspector in Delhi Police and has been using his influence to shield his daughter. “We’ve been to every police officer’s door, but no one is listening. The police only registered a minor NCR (non-cognizable report) instead of an FIR,” said the family.

Police Response

After the video went viral on social media, police acknowledged the incident and registered a case. “Upon receiving the complaint, we have registered a case and further legal action is being taken,” said a police official from Kavi Nagar station. However, the family insists that justice has been delayed and they continue to live in fear.

Public Outrage and Demand for Justice

The incident has sparked widespread anger, highlighting the plight of the elderly couple and the apparent failure of authorities to protect them. The video has become a rallying point for calls demanding swift justice and strict action against the accused.

As the investigation continues, the city and the nation watch closely, hoping that the elderly couple will finally receive the justice they deserve.
