A Family Shattered by Loss

Rajveer’s elder brother, Chandraveer, had traveled to Rudraprayag to complete the formalities and identify the body—recognized by Rajveer’s watch and ring. After DNA confirmation, the body was brought home. As soon as the coffin entered the house, an atmosphere of grief engulfed the family. Deepika, herself an officer in the Indian Army, was inconsolable as she paid her final respects to her husband.

The couple had married in 2011 while both were posted in Pathankot. Just four months ago, they welcomed twin sons, filling their home with joy. June 30 was meant to be a double celebration—their parents’ wedding anniversary and a ceremony for the twins. But fate had other plans.

A Decorated Career and a Sudden End

Rajveer Singh Chauhan, a resident of Jaipur’s Shastri Nagar, served over 15 years in the Indian Army, gaining extensive experience in air operations across India. After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, he joined Aryan Aviation Private Limited in October 2024, continuing his passion for flying.

On the morning of June 15, tragedy struck near Gaurikund, Kedarnath, when the helicopter Rajveer was piloting crashed, claiming the lives of all seven people on board. The news sent shockwaves through the family and the entire community. Relatives and friends rushed to the Chauhan residence to offer their condolences, but the pain was palpable and overwhelming.

A Home Filled with Both Joy and Sorrow

Rajveer’s untimely death has left a void in the family, especially for his wife Deepika and their infant twins. Neighbors recall the happiness that had recently filled the home with the arrival of the babies. Now, the same house echoes with grief and loss.

A Final Salute

As the community gathered for the final rites, the image of Deepika—an army officer, a wife, and now a widow—crying over her husband’s body, became a symbol of the sacrifices made by India’s servicemen and their families.
