The incident occurred in a rented house where Sonal, a young woman, was staying with her friend Rashmi. According to police, the tragedy unfolded around 1:30 PM when they received information about the double murder and a man fleeing the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered Sonal and the infant, both stabbed to death in a chilling act of violence.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rashmi, who had been living in the area for only two to three months, had left her six-month-old daughter in Sonal’s care while she went to pick up her elder daughter from school. When Rashmi returned, she was confronted with the horrific sight of her baby and friend lying lifeless, both victims of a brutal stabbing.

Neighbors and relatives, stunned by the tragedy, gathered outside the house, struggling to come to terms with what had happened. “We heard that there had been two murders inside the lane—a small baby and a young woman,” said one resident, still in disbelief.

Police quickly identified Nikhil, Sonal’s boyfriend, as the prime suspect. According to their findings, a heated argument between Sonal and Nikhil escalated, leading him to fatally stab both Sonal and the infant before fleeing the scene. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to track his movements and bring him to justice.

Relatives told reporters that Rashmi had only recently moved into the neighborhood, having previously lived elsewhere in Majnu Ka Tilla. The motive behind the murders is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest a personal dispute may have triggered the violence.

The double homicide has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing fear and outrage over the senseless loss of innocent lives. Police are continuing their investigation, and a manhunt is underway for Nikhil, who remains at large.

As the city mourns this tragic event, questions remain about what led to such a horrific crime—and what can be done to prevent such tragedies in the future.
