According to police reports, the ordeal began when Chand Mohammad, a youth from a different community residing in Faridpur Haji village, allegedly lured and kidnapped the minor. The girl’s mother, already widowed, filed a kidnapping complaint at the Nagfani police station on June 28. Swift action by the police led to Chand Mohammad’s arrest and the safe recovery of the girl on July 2.

After her rescue, the girl underwent a medical examination and gave a statement to the police, in which she bravely revealed the details of her assault. Based on her testimony, charges of rape and sections under the POCSO Act were added to the case, and the accused was sent to jail the same day.

The girl was then presented before the Child Welfare Committee and handed over to her mother. However, the trauma of the incident weighed heavily on her. Her mother noticed her daughter had become withdrawn and rarely spoke or stepped outside since returning home.

On the morning of the tragedy, the girl’s mother left the house for some errands. When she returned around 9:30 AM, she found her daughter hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf. Neighbors rushed to help, and the girl was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The mother, devastated by the sight, collapsed in shock.

Police arrived promptly, conducted a forensic investigation, and sent the body for post-mortem. The report confirmed death by hanging. Authorities assured that all necessary legal actions have been taken, and the accused remains in jail.

This heartbreaking case highlights the deep scars left by sexual violence and the urgent need for psychological support for survivors. The incident has sparked outrage and sorrow across Moradabad, with many calling for greater awareness and stronger support systems for victims of such heinous crimes.
