The incident began when two fifth-grade students got into a fight during class. Another student reported the altercation to their teacher, Rakesh Ranjan Srivastava. Responding to the complaint, Srivastava entered the classroom and attempted to break up the fight. In an effort to instill discipline, he slapped both students involved in the scuffle.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn when one of the slapped students, frightened, ran home and told his family about being hit by the teacher. Enraged, the student’s parents stormed into the school, barged into the classroom, and began assaulting the teacher with sticks and blows. The viral video clearly shows the furious parents attacking Srivastava, while other staff members who tried to intervene were also beaten.

A female teacher can be seen in the video, pleading with folded hands for the violence to stop, but her appeals were ignored. The school soon descended into panic, with children running in all directions. Police arrived at the scene and managed to restore order.

The injured teacher, Rakesh Ranjan Srivastava, and another staff member, Dharmendra Kumar, were hospitalized with serious injuries to their hands and waist. The school’s principal, Pankaj Kumar, condemned the incident, calling it not just an attack on an individual but on the entire education system. “If teachers are not safe in schools, how will children receive an education?” he questioned.

A police complaint has been filed, and an investigation is underway. The incident has sparked a heated debate: Was the teacher’s disciplinary action justified, or did it cross a line? And can violence ever be an acceptable response?
