Tragedy in Bahraich: Instagram Reel Obsession Leads to a Family’s Heartbreak

Bahraich has been rocked by a shocking incident that underscores the dangerous obsession with creating Instagram reels. In a chilling case, four friends have allegedly murdered their companion, Shadab, in a brutal quest for the perfect video.

The incident took place in the Kotwali Dehat area of Bahraich, where the accused lured Shadab to a secluded spot near an orchard under the pretense of filming a high-quality reel with an iPhone. Once there, they violently snatched his phone, strangled him, and ultimately crushed him with bricks before fleeing the scene with his iPhone.

Shadab had traveled from Bengaluru to attend his uncle’s wedding and was tragically killed by friends from his village. Eyewitnesses reported that as he approached the group, they quickly led him away, only to turn on him in a horrific act of betrayal.

All the suspects involved in this heinous crime are reportedly minors. Police have managed to apprehend two of them, while the search continues for the remaining suspects. During interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to their involvement in the murder.

On January 21, police received a report of a missing boy from Baraur, prompting an immediate investigation. Sadly, Shadab’s body was discovered on January 22 near an abandoned tube well in a guava orchard. Authorities took possession of the body, conducted an autopsy, and filed a First Information Report (FIR) naming four suspects, including two minors.

This tragic event highlights the dark side of social media culture, where the desire for viral fame can lead to devastating consequences. The question now looms: have today’s youth prioritized Instagram fame over basic human decency?
