Uproar in Sultanpur After Samajwadi Party Leader Sunil Yadav’s Mysterious Death: Former MLA and Brother-in-Law Named in FIR
A wave of shock and controversy has swept across Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district following the suspicious death of Sunil Yadav, former sector in-charge of the Samajwadi Party. The incident has not only rattled Sultanpur but also sent shockwaves all the way to Lucknow, as the names at the center of the allegations are none other than former Samajwadi Party strongman MLA Santosh Pandey and his brother-in-law, Vivek Mishra.

According to the FIR filed by Sunil Yadav’s wife, Sarita Yadav, the top accused is ex-MLA Santosh Pandey, followed by Vivek Mishra and Sushil Nishad alias Munna. The FIR alleges that on the night of July 3rd, Vivek Mishra and Sushil Nishad called Sunil Yadav to “Lala ki Bagh” in their village, where they brutally assaulted him with kicks, punches, and the butts of weapons. Vivek Mishra reportedly stomped on Sunil’s chest, causing him to bleed from the mouth, and threatened to kill him if he contested the upcoming local elections.
Following the assault, Sunil Yadav posted a desperate plea for protection on Facebook at 3:00 AM, tagging Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the DGP, Sultanpur SP, SP President Akhilesh Yadav, and the official Samajwadi Party Facebook page. Although the post has since been deleted, its contents have come to light, revealing that Sunil directly accused Santosh Pandey’s brother-in-law and Sushil Nishad of threatening to kill him and assaulting him over his election plans.
Sarita Yadav further alleges that the next day, ex-MLA Santosh Pandey summoned Sunil, seized his mobile phone, and assaulted him again, forcing him to delete his Facebook post and the threatening voice recordings. After this second attack, Sunil’s health deteriorated rapidly. He began vomiting blood and, on July 6th, complained of severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. He was rushed to CHC Chanda and then referred to Sultanpur Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. The post-mortem report confirmed that Sunil died due to respiratory failure, but the exact circumstances are under police investigation.
Police conducted the funeral on Tuesday evening under heavy security. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party’s state president Shyamlal Nishad has directed a nine-member delegation to visit the bereaved family.
This case has sparked intense debate and public outrage, raising serious questions about law and order, political rivalry, and the safety of grassroots political workers in Uttar Pradesh. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes are on the authorities to ensure justice is served.
