A Sister’s Nightmare: Speeding Electric Bus Shatters Two Lives in Meerut

Meerut Bus Accident: बहन के सामने छात्रा की दर्दनाक मौत, बस के नीचे फंसी लाश को क्रेन से निकाला गया

Two sisters, hands clasped and eyes full of dreams, were on their way to college in Meerut. Just moments before, everything was normal—laughter, conversations, and hopes for a bright future. But in the blink of an eye, speeding chaos on a city road crushed their happiness forever.

This heartbreaking tragedy struck the Dorala area of Meerut. Manisha, a BA second-year student, left home for RG College with her younger sister, Shruti. As they got down from a tempo at Zero Mile intersection, the two started to cross the road together. Suddenly, an out-of-control electric city bus came hurtling down Roorkee Road and ran straight into Manisha.

Shruti watched in horror as the bus struck her elder sister, dragging her nearly 30 meters before coming to a stop. In one devastating moment, Shruti’s world was torn apart right in front of her eyes. She barely escaped with her life, but the trauma of witnessing her sister’s horrific death will haunt her forever.

The chaotic scene after the accident was even more haunting. Screams split the air as shocked bystanders rushed to help. Manisha’s body was wedged so tightly under the massive bus that a crane had to be called to lift the vehicle and retrieve her remains. The hands that had held her sister’s minutes ago were now stilled forever.

A local police officer at the scene explained, “The accident occurred at Zero Mile next to Begum Bridge. A schoolgirl was crossing the road when an electric city bus hit her. Police arrived immediately and rushed her to hospital. The driver and the bus are both in custody, and the girl’s family has been informed. Necessary legal action is being carried out.”

Police have detained the driver and seized the bus while sending Manisha’s body for post-mortem. The investigation will continue, but no legal action can heal the shattered lives of the family—a mother and father who had nurtured their daughter’s dreams, and a sister who lost her best friend moments after saying goodbye at their doorstep.

This isn’t just another accident—it’s a devastating question about our system, road safety, and the reckless speed that puts countless innocent lives in danger every day. As one family mourns and a city is left shaken, the tragedy serves as a painful reminder that behind every statistic is a story of love, hope, and irreplaceable loss.

How many more dreams must die before our roads become safe?
