The incident came to light after the youngster posted a now-viral Facebook video. He described how his ball fell into a locked house near Namapally market. Venturing inside, he recorded his exploration, only to stumble upon skeletal remains lying in the kitchen, right in front of a refrigerator—an image that has sent shockwaves across the city.

Local residents had noticed a foul smell coming from the house, which had been shuttered for years, and alerted authorities. On July 14, police from the Habib Nagar station arrived on the scene and launched a thorough investigation. The remains have since been shifted to a mortuary for forensic examination.

The identity of the deceased and whether the remains belong to a man or a woman have yet to be established. Police are now conducting DNA tests to uncover the truth.

Area ACP Kishan Kumar explained that the body was completely decomposed and there were no signs of struggle or injury, suggesting a possible natural death. He shared that the house might have once belonged to a man known as Munir Khan, who reportedly had ten children, many of whom are believed to be living abroad. Investigators suspect that the skeleton could belong to Khan’s fourth child, who was said to be mentally disturbed and possibly died alone under natural circumstances.

For now, police are trying to contact the remaining family members while awaiting DNA verification and toxicology results to rule out any foul play.
