A wave of terror swept through Kharthua village in Darbhanga district late last night as two masked gunmen arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire outside the home of Laxman Yadav, a well-known petrol pump owner and road contractor. The shocking incident, which lasted nearly five minutes, has been captured on CCTV and is now circulating widely on social media, raising serious questions about law and order in Bihar.

What Happened?

According to eyewitnesses and CCTV footage, the attackers arrived around 11:00 PM, their faces covered, and began firing multiple rounds at Yadav’s residence. The assailants shouted, demanding Laxman Yadav come outside, threatening to shoot him by name. After firing at least six to seven rounds and hurling abuses, the duo sped away before villagers could react.

Family’s Statement

At the time of the attack, Laxman Yadav and his family were in Kolkata. His cousin, Ajay Kumar Yadav, confirmed the events:
“Two men came on a bike, fired several shots at our house, and called out Laxman’s name. We were inside and did not open the gate. When villagers gathered, the attackers fled. Four bullets hit the house, and police recovered three spent cartridges from the scene.”

Police Response and Investigation

The Sadar police station was alerted immediately and arrived at the scene within minutes. SDPO Rajiv Kumar led the investigation but declined to comment to the media. Police are reviewing the CCTV footage and have promised swift action to apprehend the culprits. So far, authorities have not identified any motive, as Laxman Yadav insists he has no ongoing disputes or threats.

The brazen attack has left the entire community in fear. Residents say this is not an isolated incident, as crime rates in Bihar have been on the rise, challenging the local police force and creating an atmosphere of insecurity.
