Tragedy Strikes: Four Indian-Origin Senior Citizens from New York Killed in Car Crash During Spiritual Trip
A spiritual journey ended in heartbreak for four Indian-origin senior citizens residing in New York, as all were tragically killed in a car accident while en route to West Virginia. The loss has left both the Indian-American community and their loved ones in deep mourning.
Who Were the Victims?
The four individuals, all respected members of their community and advanced in age, were identified as:
Asha Dwan (85)
Kishor Dwan (89)
Chalesh Dwan (86)
Gita Dwan (84)
They set out together from Buffalo, New York, driven by faith and the hope of spiritual fulfillment.
Mysterious Disappearance
According to reports, the group was last spotted at a Burger King in Pennsylvania on July 29th. When family and friends could no longer reach them by phone, concern quickly grew. The ISKCON temple group, connected to their destination in West Virginia, also alerted local police after losing contact with them.
The Tragic Discovery
Marshall County Sheriff Mike Dougherty confirmed that after an intensive search effort lasting hours, the senior citizens were found deceased following a devastating car crash. The incident reportedly occurred as they were driving to a spiritual site associated with the ISKCON organization.
CCTV footage from the crash site was instrumental in identifying the wrecked vehicle and confirming the fate of the missing elderly travelers.
What Happened?
The group’s journey turned fatal somewhere between Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Details surrounding the cause of the crash remain under investigation, with authorities set to release more information after a thorough probe.
Community Response
The tragedy has cast a shadow over both the local Indian-American community in New York and spiritual communities across several states. Many have expressed sorrow and offered condolences, remembering the victims as devout, gentle souls seeking peace and blessings during their later years.
Lasting Impact
This heartbreaking incident serves as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of travel safety—especially for senior citizens. As investigations continue to shed light on the circumstances of the crash, the community stands united in grief, support, and remembrance.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Asha Dwan, Kishor Dwan, Chalesh Dwan, and Gita Dwan during this incredibly difficult time.
