A shocking incident occurred in Dumrawa village under Deepnagar police station, Bihar, where two young people were shot dead during a religious event late last night. The victims have been identified as Anu Kumari (20), daughter of Om Prakash Paswan, and Himanshu Kumar (16), son of Santosh Paswan.

Sudden Violence at Akhand Kirtan

According to reports, the village was holding an Akhand Kirtan—a continuous devotional singing event—when the violence broke out. Amidst the prayers and music, a group of youths from outside the village arrived, allegedly using a previous dispute as a pretext to start an altercation. The situation quickly escalated, and shots were fired at the gathering.

Both Anu Kumari and Himanshu Kumar were hit by bullets and died on the spot. The sudden attack caused chaos and panic among the villagers, turning the peaceful event into a scene of tragedy.

Community in Shock, Protest Erupts

As news of the incident spread, a wave of anger and grief swept through Dumrawa. Villagers refused to hand over the bodies for post-mortem examination and attempted to block the road in protest, demanding immediate action and justice for the victims.

Police Response

Law enforcement responded swiftly, with the Law and Order DSP, Circle Inspector, and the Nagar Police Station Chief rushing to the scene along with other officials. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack and searching for those responsible.

Lack of Medical Support

Family members expressed frustration over the lack of medical facilities and the delayed response. “We brought them here, but the doctors said it was too late. There was no help available,” said one of the relatives.

Ongoing Investigation

The incident has left the entire village in mourning and fear. Police have assured the community that the culprits will be brought to justice, and extra security has been deployed in the area to prevent further unrest.
