Each year, she spent thousands of dollars to keep them safe, refusing to let them be destroyed or donated to strangers or for research.

Linda’s wish was simple: if ever those embryos were used to bring a child into the world, she wanted to know the family, since the baby would be a full sibling to her daughter.

After decades, Linda connected with Nightlight Christian Adoptions, an agency running the unique “Snowflakes” program. The program allows embryo donors to choose the family in which their biological child will be born. Linda finally selected the Pierce couple—Lindsey (35) and Tim (34)—fulfilling her wish for a loving home for her embryo.

The Pierces weren’t seeking to break any records. After years of trying to become parents without success, they turned to science for help. “We just wanted a child,” they said.
