Major Success for Security Forces in Chaibasa, Jharkhand—Top Naxal Commander Killed in Encounter

A major news has emerged from Chaibasa, Jharkhand, where a fierce encounter took place between Naxalites and high-security forces. In this operation, security forces achieved a significant victory by killing a notorious Naxal zonal commander, Amit Hansda, who carried a reward of ₹10 lakh on his head. The Jharkhand government had declared this bounty due to his involvement in numerous crimes.

According to SP Rakesh Ranjan, Chaibasa police received intelligence about the presence of Naxalite squads near the forest area of Rehla Pal. During the operation, as soon as the police approached, the Naxalites opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. After the exchange of gunfire, a search revealed that the zonal commander, Amit Hansda, had been killed. Weapons and cartridges were also recovered from the scene.

The police had received secret information about a Maoist squad operating near the Goel police station area. Based on this, a team was formed comprising Chaibasa police and the Cobra 209 Battalion, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Paras and Assistant Commandant Deepak. The team launched the operation with great caution, and the encounter began as soon as the police were spotted.

Amit Hansda was a highly important Naxal commander, with over 95 cases registered against him. He was involved in the killing of about a dozen police personnel and many innocent civilians. The joint operation by Chaibasa Police, Jharkhand Police, CRPF, and Cobra Battalion is considered a major achievement.

During the encounter, security forces recovered an SLR rifle and various other items from the site. The area search operation has been intensified to catch any remaining Naxalites who may be hiding nearby. The death of the wanted Naxal commander is seen as a big blow to the Naxal organization, expected to impact their morale and disrupt their network.v
