Bipasha Basu Gracefully Shuts Down Fatphobia After Unpleasant Public Encounter
Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu recently faced an uncomfortable moment in public, once again highlighting the scrutiny and body-shaming celebrities endure even during private moments. The star was spotted in the city after a relaxing salon session, dressed casually in a T-shirt and comfortable pants, simply enjoying some well-deserved ‘me time’.
However, her peaceful outing was abruptly interrupted when a man suddenly walked right in front of her. Caught off guard, Bipasha immediately stepped back and firmly asked, “Kaun hain aap?” (“Who are you?”). Although clearly startled, Bipasha handled the situation with composure and grace.
Unfortunately, this was not the only ordeal she faced. In recent days, Bipasha has become the target of fatphobic comments on social media following the posting of some of her recent videos. Despite facing unwarranted criticism, she has consistently handled such negativity with dignity. Just days earlier, after a gym visit, she was seen sharing a light-hearted moment with paparazzi, kindly requesting they refrain from taking her photos. Addressing the barrage of body-shaming remarks, she stated calmly, “Please keep saying that, it’s fine. I’m not bothered. It’s okay.”
Opening up further, Bipasha revealed the personal toll of constant attention: “Every time I step out, I just want to run back home to my daughter. She’s all alone.” Her candid admission raises a pointed question: Why are actresses always expected to “bounce back” immediately after childbirth? Before being celebrities, they are women—and mothers—who deserve the same compassion and space to heal as anyone else.
As someone who has experienced shaming firsthand, I deeply empathize with Bipasha. The impact of such words can be profound and long-lasting. Bipasha’s resilience and unbothered stance serve as a powerful reminder: Body-shaming, in all its forms, has no place in our society.
Let’s champion empathy over criticism and remember that every mother—celebrity or not—deserves kindness and respect.
