Bilaspur Train Accident: The Unending Pain of Priya’s Disappearance
This simple instruction echoes hauntingly in the hearts of Priya Chandra’s family, who have been desperately searching for her for over 24 hours. The tragic train accident between Bilaspur and Gatora has left twelve families mourning their loved ones, but for Priya’s family, the tragedy is more than just another headline—it is a wound that may never heal.
Priya Chandra, a student at Guru Ghasidas University, boarded the train from Champa, heading either to her hostel or home. But before she could reach her destination, fate intervened. The accident claimed 12 lives, and over a day has passed since the incident, but Priya remains missing. While authorities have confirmed the death toll, Priya’s whereabouts are still unknown.

The moment news of the accident reached Priya’s family, they rushed to Bilaspur, their eyes clouded with hope and hearts heavy with fear. They have been searching hospitals, railway stations, and rescue centers, asking the same question everywhere: “Where is Priya? Where did she go?”
Imagine the agony of a mother who does not know whether her daughter is safe or what has happened to her. She doesn’t want consolation or reassurances—she just wants her Priya back.
Many other families are also suffering, with their loved ones fighting for their lives in hospitals. One mother, Pushpa, pleaded with doctors and government officials, “Please save my daughter. Teach her to walk again. I just want her back the way she was.”
The Chhattisgarh government is doing everything possible to support the injured. On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw visited Bilaspur hospital to check on the victims and assured strict action against those responsible. “It’s a tragic accident,” he said. “Twelve people have died, and many are injured. Treatment is ongoing in private hospitals. We are in constant contact with the doctors and families to ensure the best care is provided.”
Multiple hospitals are treating the injured, and the district administration, railway authorities, and rescue teams are working together to provide timely and proper treatment. The Chief Minister has directed all possible support for the victims.
When asked about the cause of the accident, officials stated, “An inquiry has been ordered. The investigation has started, and only after the report will we know why the accident happened and who is responsible.”
In this hour of pain, authorities appeal to everyone: help these grieving families. Search every corner, every hospital room—maybe somewhere, in some anonymous ward, Priya will be found. Maybe one lost daughter will return home.
