Alok Maurya Back in Headlines: Appears for RO/ARO Examination Amid Ongoing Marital Dispute

Alok Maurya, who became a household name following his much-publicized dispute with his wife, SDM Jyoti Maurya, is once again making headlines. Recently, his photographs went viral as he was spotted at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Vidyalaya examination center in Kanpur, where he was seen appearing for the UPPSC RO/ARO (Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer) exam.

Captured by cameras as he quietly exited the exam center without making any statement, Alok Maurya’s mere presence has reignited public discussion about his personal and professional journey.

Alok first came into the limelight two years ago when he accused his wife, Jyoti Maurya, of betraying him after he supported her education and career ambitions. According to Alok, after Jyoti secured a position as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), she distanced herself and sought separation. The dispute between the two eventually escalated to divorce proceedings.

The situation intensified further when news emerged that Jyoti Maurya filed a petition seeking maintenance (alimony). In response, Alok challenged the Family Court’s decision in the High Court, stating that he is struggling with health issues and earns a modest living as a fourth-class employee in the Panchayati Raj department, whereas his wife holds a senior administrative post.

Earlier, the Family Court had dismissed his plea on January 4, 2025. However, the High Court has now taken cognizance of his appeal, issued a notice to Jyoti Maurya, and has scheduled the next hearing for August 8.

Despite ongoing legal battles and personal hardships, Alok Maurya continues to take competitive exams—including PCS and RO/ARO exams—as a means of rebuilding his self-respect and striving for personal progress. His recent appearance at the exam center is seen by many as the beginning of a new chapter in his journey of resilience.

It remains to be seen what the results of both his professional examinations and legal struggles will be.
