Haryana Man Dies by Suicide After Alleged Harassment by Wife and Her Police Officer Lover

Rohtak, Haryana — In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage in Haryana, a man named Ajay, also known as Magan, took his own life after allegedly being harassed by his wife and her lover, a police inspector. The tragedy has cast a spotlight on the dark realities of marital discord, betrayal, and the abuse of power.

The case surfaced from Rohtak, where Ajay, originally from Hisar, ended his life by hanging himself. Before his death on June 18, Ajay recorded a video detailing the emotional torment he had suffered at the hands of his wife Divya and her alleged boyfriend, Deepak, a police constable from Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. In the video, Ajay clearly stated that he was driven to suicide by the continuous harassment and monetary demands from both Divya and Deepak.

Ajay alleged that Divya not only engaged in an illicit relationship but also sent him an objectionable video of herself dancing and behaving inappropriately with her lover. According to his family, seeing this video devastated Ajay. He could not bear the humiliation of his married wife’s public conduct, especially when she herself sent him the video.

Ajay further claimed that Divya, encouraged by Deepak, pressured him to sell ancestral land and even demanded he murder his own father to access the property; the money, they claimed, was needed to secure Deepak’s promotion within the police force. Ajay detailed how he had transferred significant amounts of money to Divya—Rs 1.5 lakh from selling wheat, and more on July 9 after pawning gold jewelry. These sums, he said, were eventually transferred by Divya to Deepak’s account.

Following Ajay’s death, his family discovered his body hanging from a tree after finding his video confession on social media. They immediately contacted the police, who registered a case and recorded the statements of Ajay’s relatives.

Police investigation revealed that Deepak denied having any deep relationship with Divya, claiming she was just a “call girl” whom he paid to meet at hotels, and maintained that he had no connection to the suicide.

Based on Ajay’s dying statement, his wife Divya has been arrested and sent to jail. Deepak’s bail application has already been rejected by the Rohtak court, and the matter is now pending before the High Court. Police have recorded Deepak’s statement and will formally respond to the High Court on September 4.

The incident not only underlines the breakdown of personal relationships but also raises troubling questions about the misuse of authority, the value of human life, and why society is witnessing such a decline in trust and empathy.

Ajay’s death is a grim reminder that suicide is never a solution, but the circumstances that push someone to such an extreme decision must not be ignored. This disturbing episode from Rohtak exposes the urgent need for social introspection and legal action to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
