Actress Tanushi Opens Up About Five Years of Harassment: “I’m Being Watched in My Own Home”
In a shocking revelation, South Indian actress Tanushi broke her silence and took to social media to share the harrowing ordeals she has faced for the past five years. Tanushi, who made her mark in regional cinema with her powerful performances, recently posted a video alleging ongoing harassment, surveillance, and threats that have pushed her to the brink of a breakdown.
“I Have Been Harassed So Much Over the Last Five Years That I Have Fallen Sick”
Tanushi’s emotional video, shared late Tuesday night, begins with a simple but distressing admission: “I am being harassed in my own house. I just called the cops and they asked me to come to the police station to file a formal complaint. I will probably go tomorrow or the day after.” Her voice, a mix of exhaustion and frustration, underscored the gravity of her situation.
But, as she continued, it became clear this was far from an isolated incident. “I have been harassed so much over the last five years that I have fallen sick,” she revealed, hinting at the mental and physical toll the ordeal has taken on her.
A Cry for Help That Fell on Deaf Ears
Tanushi also disclosed that this wasn’t the first time she had reached out publicly. “I posted a similar video two years ago, but no one took me seriously,” she recounted. Back then, she says, the harassment had just begun, and she struggled to understand what was happening. Over time, however, patterns emerged—and the pieces began to fall into place.
“Back then, I couldn’t understand where it was coming from. Now, I know who is behind everything.” Tanushi did not name any individuals or organizations directly, stating only that she would be providing police with more information soon.
“They Are Always Filming Me. These Are Not Fans.”
One of the most disturbing allegations is that Tanushi has been under constant surveillance by people she believes do not have her best interests at heart. “These people keep filming me. They are not fans. I’ve been in public long enough to know the difference,” she explained.
The actress pointed out that she has not participated in any major public events or movie promotions recently, dismissing the idea that paparazzi or admirers were behind the repeated invasions of her privacy. “There’s no reason for fans to be outside my house every day. This is something different—something much darker,” she insists.
The Harassment Intensified After She Questioned “NANA Foundation”
In a significant and potentially dangerous twist, Tanushi alleged that the harassment grew more intense after she began to ask questions about the NANA Foundation—a powerful charitable organization with deep roots in both philanthropy and the entertainment industry.
“At first, I thought maybe it was just random troublemakers. But when I started asking about the NANA Foundation, suddenly everything changed. The surveillance, the anonymous messages—it all became worse,” she claims.
While Tanushi declined to elaborate on the specifics, her implication that a well-connected organization might be involved has sent shockwaves through the local entertainment community. Whispers about corruption and abuse of power are not new in the film industry, but rarely do public figures come forward with such open allegations.
Living in Fear: The Toll of Constant Harassment
Sources close to Tanushi have confirmed that she has withdrawn from most public appearances and film commitments in the past year. Her once-regular posts on social media became rare, and there were persistent rumors regarding her health and well-being.
“She’s always been a fighter, but this broke her,” says a longtime friend and fellow actor who requested anonymity. “We kept telling her to report it, but she was scared that no one would listen. The industry doesn’t always protect its own.”
Tanushi says the harassment is not limited to just following and filming. “There are strange sounds outside my window at night. I’ve found hidden cameras in the hallway. My phones are tampered with. I get anonymous threats and rumors about me are spread online.”
A Pattern of Inaction by Authorities
What makes Tanushi’s situation even more distressing is her allegation that the authorities have not taken her complaints seriously. “When I reported it two years ago, nothing happened. At that time, I thought maybe I was just anxious or imagining things. But now, after five years, there’s no doubt left,” she said.
She described her recent call to the police as a last-ditch attempt for help. “They asked me to come in to file a formal complaint, but I am scared. What if things get worse? What if the people behind this find out?” she asked, her anxiety palpable.
Industry Reactions: Silence and Outrage
As news of Tanushi’s plea began to spread, reactions from the entertainment industry were divided. Some of her colleagues took to social media to express support, with hashtags like #StandWithTanushi and #JusticeForTanushi trending locally.
One of her directors posted: “Tanushi has given so much to the industry. If what she says is true, this is a wake-up call for all of us. No woman—celebrity or otherwise—should have to live in fear.”
Others, however, remained silent, fueling speculation about just how deep the roots of such harassment might go. Some industry insiders, off the record, suggested that there is a “code of silence” in place when powerful names are mentioned, especially those linked with influential organizations.
The Wider Context – Harassment in Indian Cinema
Tanushi’s ordeal is a chilling reminder of the dark underbelly that shadows the glamour of the film industry. Cases of stalking, threats, and online harassment have become increasingly common, yet few celebrities speak openly for fear of career repercussions.
“Harassment is real, and it’s worse when you are a woman in the spotlight,” said another actress, who suffered similar treatment several years ago. “People think fame is a shield, but sometimes, it makes you a bigger target.”
Human rights organizations have called for a thorough investigation into Tanushi’s case, emphasizing the urgent need for reforms in how harassment cases are handled by law enforcement and industry bodies.
What Lies Ahead?
As of this writing, Tanushi has yet to file her formal complaint, citing fears for her safety. However, she remains adamant that she will not back down. “I’m done being afraid. I want everyone to know what’s happening—if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.”
The coming days will be critical. Whether Tanushi’s brave outcry will spark real change—or become just another ignored warning—remains to be seen.
